Looksmaxxing apps in 2026: 115 apps, 69 launched in 18 months, and one number sells all of them

Looksmaxxing is open. 115 apps sell a score for your face, your height, or your jawline, 69 of them launched in the last 18 months, and those newcomers hold 59% of the niche's review pace. Five apps sit in researched bands, one at $50–250k a month on 6,766 ratings. The two face raters that started the niche in late 2023 have not shipped an update since mid 2024 and still add 1,300 to 1,600 ratings a month. Eight of the twelve leaders share the same one star review, the quiz is free and the answer is not, and eleven carry the trial complaint.

What the niche is

Take a selfie or answer a quiz, get a number, get a plan to raise it. The number is a golden-ratio face score, a predicted adult height, a jawline grade, or a PSL tier. The plan is mewing, posture, skincare, a haircut, supplements. TikTok appears in 26 of the pooled reviews, 19 of them one and two star.

It sits under Beauty & skincare and splits twelve ways. Face ratings and advice (26 apps), daily glow-up programs (17), PSL rating and ascension plans (12), height predictors with a growth plan (12), grow taller workouts (9), mewing jawline training (6), rated by real people (3), and a handful of two-app corners: beauty scoring, AI face coaching, cosmetic procedure previews. Face and height hold four of the five banded apps.

Band: our researched estimate of peak monthly revenue, published only for apps we have researched one by one. Every app in the catalog sits above the $5k a month floor.

The niche has two generations.

The 2023 face raters. Umax (51,339 ratings) and LooksMax AI (42,628) launched within a month of each other in late 2023, led the niche on a three-step script (download, take a selfie, get your analysis) and then stopped. Neither has updated since spring 2024. Both still collect over 1,300 ratings a month. LooxUP (36,269) and Glam Up (32,954) followed in early 2024 with the same script; Glam Up points it at women with a color-season scan.

The 2025 wave went narrow. Taller AI (21,978 ratings in a year, 1,882 a month, more than any app in the niche), JawMax (15,102), Depuff AI (14,275), UCHAD (13,182), PSL (9,989). Each sells one body part or one score instead of a whole face.

The money sits with the height apps. GoTall launched in June 2025, has 6,766 ratings, and is in the $50–250k band. Taller has 17,399 ratings since October 2024 and sits at $20–50k. Both charge before showing the predicted height, and their one star reviews say so: 14 of GoTall's 76 and 11 of Taller's 112 describe paying to see the result.

Face Harmony by Clavicular launched in July 2026, reached the App Store top ten in a day by its own listing, holds a 2.2 star rating on 102 ratings, and is already in the $20–50k band.

How they make money

Weekly, and the answer behind the paywall.

Weekly plans on six of the seven leaders with a price sheet, at $3.99 to $9.99. Umax at $3.99 to $6.99 a week, LooxUP at $4.99 to $9.99, Taller AI at $5.99 to $9.99, Depuff at $6.99.

Yearly at $19.99 to $49.99 with a three day trial on the 2025 wave: Taller AI, JawMax, Depuff.

Consumables on top. LooksMax AI sells boosts at $2.99 to $3.99 and a hairstyles pack at $4.99. Umax sells "You as a 10/10" at $6.99.

The height apps run the same quiz-then-pay shape as the face apps, with the prediction as the paywall.

The angles that get installs

  • workouts that promise to make you taller20 apps
  • jawline as a workout6 apps
  • morning face de-bloat4 apps

Forty-five apps say golden-ratio face score. Ten say workouts that promise taller, eight say grow taller with a plan. The 2025 entrants that grew fastest each took one body part: Taller AI, JawMax, Depuff. None of the twelve leaders' listings promises the score free, and paying to see it is the complaint in eight of them.

Phrases that recur in one and two star reviews across 7 of the niche's top 12 apps.

Across all twelve leaders, three complaints.

The answer is behind the paywall. Questions first, then a wall in front of the result. "Pay to see" runs through eight of the twelve leaders and "see results" through seven. GoTall's reviews carry the highest share: 14 of its 76 one and two star reviews.

The trial charged me. Eleven of twelve apps carry it, 71 times in the sample. A seven day trial that converts to a year, or a purchase that went through before the user meant it to.

The number does not explain itself. "Doesn't work" in eight apps: a height prediction the reviewer calls fake, a score with no advice attached.

What works, from the five star side

Outcomes. A thirteen year old who grew, products matched to an undertone, a face that lost bloat, a user who "gave me new hope". The five star reviews describe what changed after the score, in eight of twelve leaders.

Twelve entrants over 1,000 ratings, five over 10,000. One reached the $50–250k band in a year. The 2023 leaders are dormant and single-purpose apps are retaking the niche. That is what 59% of the review pace held by newcomers means.

What to copy and what to avoid

From the price sheets and the pooled reviews above.

Copy: one score, one body part. The five fastest 2025 entrants each sell one thing: Taller AI (21,978 ratings in a year, 1,882 a month, the fastest pace in the niche), JawMax, Depuff, UCHAD, PSL. Ten apps lead with grow-taller workouts, eight with a growth plan.

Copy: the weekly plan. Six of the seven leaders with a price sheet sell one, at $3.99 to $9.99.

Avoid: the quiz that ends in a wall. "Pay to see" is the complaint in eight of twelve leaders, and none of the twelve listings promises the score free.

Avoid: the trial that converts on its own. Eleven of twelve leaders carry the complaint, 71 times in the sample.

Our read: the five star reviews describe an outcome and the one star reviews describe a number with nothing attached. The plan is the product; the score is the ad.

Rising reads 0.7x across the three apps with dated reviews. That is the 2023 face raters cooling after their launch spike. The 2025 entrants set the pace of the niche now.
